Cannabis is illegal in terms of The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971

Cannabis plants and resin are Class B drugs and Cannabis oil is a Class A drug. Cannabis is also a schedule 1 drug, meaning that it is considered to have no legitimate therapeutic use.

You can be prosecuted for possession, cultivation, supply, possession with intent to supply, production, importation or exportation of Cannabis.

Simple possession of Cannabis if tried at a crown court carries a maximum sentence of five years and an unlimited fine. Yes the law is that stupid and dangerous. Generally simple possession will be tried in a magistrates court and be subject to a fine only but don't count on it, the law is a lottery and sentencing can vary depending on where you live.

You can be prosecuted for past possession.

Possession of Class A drugs, including Cannabis oil, can result in a 6 months prison sentence and a Ł2000 fine if tried in a magistrates court and 7 YEARS and an unlimited fine if tried in a crown court.

That's right it is possible to be stuck away in the pokey for seven years and buggered relentlessly by dangerous criminals for possessing cannabis oil - and they wonder why the law is held in such contempt by so many people.

A charge of possession of a drug with intent to supply can be brought against you. This includes giving Cannabis away for free. So now you know - If you buy Cannabis for yourself and give some to a friend you're a dealer. That's right your one of those scary people often referred to in the tabloid press and by crazed drug warriors as "scum".

Dealing in larger amounts of Cannabis can lead to a charge of trafficking and you can receive a sentence of up to 14 years and an unlimited fine.

The prosecution of people for simple possession and small scale cultivation of Cannabis in private is almost certainly in contravention of the Human Rights Act 1998, UK. However this is still undecided so don't hold your breath.

Drug warriors and the law neither know nor care about human rights, they are deeply irrational, profoundly ignorant zealots hell-bent on criminalizing Cannabis users - and that includes you.
